Kirk Van Dyke

Kirk has more than 35 years of experience in all phases of archaeological investigations in the Northeast, including many projects on Martha’s Vineyard.

He has considerable experience with investigations for utility projects, including large-scale, multi-state pipelines and electrical, wind farm, and fiber-optic installations. Kirk has been responsible for many projects involving archaeological monitoring of construction excavation activities, including a large-scale, long-term sewer project in Rhode Island. He has assisted in surveys for federal, state, and municipal agencies and private developers and works closely with Tribal Historic Preservation Officers and other tribal members. His skills as a photographer using 35mm, medium and large, digital, and video formats are an asset to PAL’s services.

Before joining PAL in 1993, Kirk participated in archaeological investigations in New England, Hawaii, and Sweden. He has a BS in Anthropology with concentrations in Public Archaeology and Cultural Anthropology from Bridgewater State College.
