John specializes in seventeenth- to nineteenth-century Native American sites, colonial New England farmsteads, and urban cemeteries and has led investigations at pre-contact and post-contact archaeological sites.

Before joining PAL in 2011, he worked at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center in Connecticut and other cultural resource management firms.

He graduated with a BA in Anthropology from the University of Connecticut and an MA in Historical Archaeology from the University of Massachusetts Boston. He is a Registered Professional Archaeologist and is trained and certified in OSHA 40-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) standards. He is a member of the Society for American Archaeology, Society for Historical Archaeology, and the conference on New England Archaeology.
