Educational Programs
We offer a wealth of knowledge about the past that cannot be learned through traditional classroom education.
Our expertise in local, regional, state, and national-level subjects relating to pre- and post-contact history allows us to provide valuable experiences to teachers, students, and the public. We work with regional universities and colleges, high schools, and elementary schools to bring history, archaeology, and architectural history to students. Additionally, PAL staff regularly speak to local preservation groups, avocational archaeological associations, and the general public.
Classroom presentations and hands-on demonstrations are among the most popular programs sponsored by PAL. These interactive experiences have included stone tool-making demonstrations, outdoor excavations, and other participation-based projects.
PAL’s programs range from formal curriculum design and implementation, to guided tours and hands-on demonstrations.
Services include:
Curriculum subject matter meeting state and local requirements
Popular reports geared toward the general public or specific education levels
Opportunities for college-level interns to gain experience in archaeological methods and techniques in the laboratory
Organizing and hosting tours at our facilities to teach students and groups about archaeological sites or subjects
Lectures and/or hands-on demonstrations
Internship & Volunteer Opportunities
PAL offers a select number of volunteer and internship opportunities in our laboratory. Through this program, we provide valuable experiences to high school students, college-level interns and volunteers through on-site learning sessions.
