Dianna has over 35 years of archaeological experience. She has supervised and managed all phases of archaeological investigation in the Northeast for federal, state, and local agencies and private clients and has worked at sites in Nevada, Georgia, and Texas.
She worked as a PAL project archaeologist 1985–2000 before pursuing graduate studies and rejoined PAL as a principal investigator in 2005. Her expertise and research interests include pre-contact Native American history, land use, and settlement patterns in the Northeast, and geoarchaeological methods.
In 1995–1997, she was a curatorial assistant at the Harvard University Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology, where she was responsible for collections research and consultation with Native American tribes as part of the museum’s Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act compliance. Dianna received her BA in Anthropology from the University of New Hampshire and her MA and PhD in Anthropology from Harvard University. She also holds a Graduate Certificate in Museum Studies from the Harvard University Extension School. She is a Registered Professional Archaeologist and is trained and certified in OSHA 40-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) standards and Archaeological Resources Protection Act (ARPA) compliance.
