
Andrew Polta

Andrew works in all phases of archaeological investigation throughout the Northeast. As a project archaeologist and Crew Chief, Mr. Polta has supervised projects including energy, municipal, and private development projects and has completed fieldwork at several National Park Service units including the Cape Cod National Seashore.
Andrew is active in PAL’s Educational Outreach programs and conducts and presents research on the history of Snowtown, a mixed-race community that was part of Providence in the 19th century. Before joining PAL in 2019, he worked in cultural resource management throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Andrew received his BA in Classics from Grinnell College and his MA in History from the University of Rhode Island. He is trained and certified in OSHA 40-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) standards and is a member of the Council for Northeast Historical Archaeology.
